May Day Reimagined in Second Life, Old World Style with The Wicker Man Original 1973.

Every year May Day comes around and I am reminded of it in the old world pagan style. Death rebirth and cycle of life. Every year on May 1st I watch the movie The Wicker Man. The old original 1973 version with Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland, Diane Cilento, Ingrid Pitt and Christopher Lee. I will not acknowledge the horrible 2006 remake…. they ruined it. It’s nothing like the original. YOU MUST see the original. I would point you to a place online to watch it but there is nothing. There is a huge cult following for this mystery horror film. I don’t consider it horror though. You may have to find it at the library or buy it or something. Here is a little documentary of it though for now. If you can find it online please let me know.

There are a few scenes in the movie of the residents of Summerisle dressed in wild costumes.. one of which is wearing a March Hare mask. I have decided in SL to find my rabbit mask and dress up my avatar to fit into a scene in the movie. AmandaMagick makes a lovely extra 🙂

Dressed for the May Day celebrations in Summerisle. The dress is Valentina E.-Penelope.
The mask is AFI Designs-Evil FooFoo.
The Wicker Man Enigma

May you all have a lovely May Day! I will do my best to celebrate it in Second Life but I would rather be at home on the English countryside. That will be next year!

Happy Beltane and Walpurgisnacht!!

Weird, May 1 for me, like for most of the world population, means a celebrity of workers and of unions and human rights. But please, different strokes for different folks. Make something religious of it. :/

  2. I SO agree with you about ‘The Wickerman’ and that ghastly remake. Didn’t they make the latter all about bees for some unaccountable reason, or am i confusing it with a remake of a different film? Anyway, lets forget about that monstrosity. I love the original so much i bought the soundtrack as well as the dvd. ♥

    1. The remake ruined the whole concept for this newer generation and they have NO IDEA how good the original is nor do they even know it exists. And that is sad. My wooden box set of the original is one of my prized possessions.
